The Sci-Fi Laboratory. I wanted to go for a Sci-Fi theme. I learned about using modularity while building environments. I started by gathering reference using Pinterest. After gathering reference I stared setting up my layout; by creating my block-out in Unreal Engine using BSPs. Once I had the scale and layout blocked out. I started creating modular structural assets in Maya that can be imported into Unreal. I also modeled out breakup assets for my floors and wall so my Laboratory wouldn’t feel empty. I set up the Uvs for my walls, floor ,and ceiling so I would be able to use tiling textures. I used Substance Designer to create my tiling textures and some of my materials. I used Substance Painter for my breakup assets. From here I added my materials and textures to my scene and breakup assets and built my lighting. For the glass in my scene I found a tutorial on how to create glass in Unreal on YouTube. I used some materials from Substance Source and mega scans from Quixel Bridge, for some grim and leakage. Creating this scene was a good learning experience for me. This was the second environment I have built using Unreal. I plan on creating more so that I may sharpen my skills.
